Hey there guys, so I've been using the original iPad Mini for about 2 years now, and recently I've been trying to play 720p videos on it, but the videos constantly stutter, be it playerxtreme, vlc or oplayer. I don't know if this is a software or hardware issue, but I'm guessing a hardware issue.

If I have to get a new tablet, can you guys suggest a great, or what the best one is? I kinda use the tablet only for clash of clans, and watching shows/movies. I'm trying to move away from apple, so maybe avoid the iPads, but if you guys reckon it's the best, convince me, thanks!!

Also, if you think I should wait a couple of months if there may be great tablets coming out, do tell!

I do prefer: 7/8 inches screen(not too large), and at least 1080p, and not too heavy if possible!

I would say shield tablet, 1080p 60FPS screen

Great GPU, meh CPU, can display 4K if using HDMI, pretty cheap

Although its pretty overkill if you just want to watch movies it will probably be great if you ever want to play more demanding games

Batterylife is pretty good too

Don't know if I should get that, cause I do all of my gaming on my laptop. Other than CoC, I haven't really tried any games on tablets at all

One great feture of it is that you can watch movies in 4K using a HDMI cable, so if you ever plan on getting a 4K TV, this is probably a pretty good bet

Also, if you like drawing there is a pen that comes with it and a pretty good painting program (MUCH better than the ones you can find on the android market)

But if you dont care about any of the fetures above, then you should probably go with a cheaper tablet

The shield tablet is 200 dollars i think

I have been using the Samsung Tab 2 for the past 2 years. I am very happy with it. I also play various mobile games like Clash of Clans and it does just well without any lagg. Youtube videos play perfectly well too. I wasn't very fond of its stock OS so I installed Cyanogenmod.

Nexus 7 is probaly a good choice for what you want. It has nice specs, looks sexy & 1080p screen.

I wouldnt recommend the samsung tab 2, since its still 150 dollars, and has a 1024 x 600 screen, which is pretty bad

The nexus 7 is a pretty good deal though for watching movies, but it doesnt have 60 FPS, but most people can probably live without it

well as with most recommendations i can only tell you about suff ive owned myself. so i really love the xperia z2 tablet i got. 1920x1200 and 10.1" screen is perfect for me with wathcing youtube/netflix and whatever. also the build quality is amazing. really feels premium. oh and most people when holding it for the first time wonder how light it is for its size. if you want to know mare ask away but for tablets can strongly recommend this one.

Yeah don't really care for those features, cause I don't have a 4k tv, dont draw/paint :/

TBH I rather have a small tablet, the smaller the better, around 7/8 inches. Does this narrow the choices, other than the shield tablet?

There are still plenty of tablets to choose from, you should check out this list, and ask if there is anything wierd

Also, the prices are a bit outdated, so keep that in mind, and most of them are pretty overkill for video watching

Do you care if the screen is 1080p or not?

If no, then the Amazon Fire HD 6 would probably be a good fit, but, you should watch reviews online and see if it can run the things you want

oh ok well for me screen size was more important and i got it for 340€ but sure the shield is not a bad deal too.

Dang, I'm pretty torn between Xperia Z4 tablet and Shield Tablet!! And yeah I would prefer 1080p

As for the Shield, I'm also afraid a newer upgraded one will be released soon

Yeah, everyone have been worried about it since the X1 graphic chip came out, but, its a bad cycle to get stuck in, and happens a lot on this forum, especially with graphic cards when people are even waiting for the 1000 series less than a year after the 900 series comes out.

The current shield tab is more than enough to watch movies/play demanding games on anyway

True, but if it's coming out in the next month or 2 months or so, I should wait :/ Do you have the shield tablet? Can you tell me how it is, how battery life is?

Yeah, i have the shield, and the batterylife is pretty good (need to charge it every 4 days when watching youtube around 3 - 1 hours per day), ive heard other who can do 2 days, but it depends to 100% on what you use it for

Watching offline movies using VLC (remember to enable hardware acceleration for increased battery time) does take very little battery, and i could watch 2 movies and only drain like 15% battery

You can also enable low performance mode, which increases your battery time dramatically

It doesnt drain a lot of battery when idle too

It also charges pretty quickly

Ah cool, that is pretty great battery life. However, it's quite difficult to buy the tablet outside of the US, dang. I maaay go for the iPad Air 2, but I'm really unsure!
