Anyone can relate ?

ConstantinZ

Hi guys, i'm planning to buy 2 4k monitor but one of them will need to be 30Hz because i only have one display port output.

This monitor will not be for gaming just for youtube and internet, anyone has a 4k monitor plugged into HDMI at 30Hz and can relate if this is good ?

Thx guys !

Do you have a monitor that can be downclocked to 30hz so you can see what its like? if so do that then you can see how you like it.

I have 2 Samsung S23B300, i don't think i can do that

Don't forget it's just for internet, no 3d rendering at all, i have my other 60Hz monitor for that.

Thx :)

Edit : I tried to downclock it but my monitor didnt like it and showed it to me :P

Hi, but will i see a huge difference between my two screens on the same youtube video ?

Forgive the question if it's really nooby but since a movie is 24FPS, 30 should be fine right ?

Thx

well you're not watching one youtube video across both screens at the same time, so it shouldnt matter

30 if fine for youtube, not for gaming though

I mean assuming it will let you run the monitor at 30 fps and you're okay with using a computer at 30fps then I see no reason why this wouldn't work. I don't really recommend it but, it should theoretically work.

Check out http://frames-per-second.appspot.com/, it has a comparison demo for various FPS settings.

If the sunset looks good to you at 30 fps, you should be fine.

I guess it's good enough yeap.

I think i might have found two solutions, first is more a question : Can i use DVI to display 60Hz 4K ? With an dvi to hdmi or to DP adapter

And the other is : i can plug my 2nd screen into my 2nd GPU via DP while not enabling crossfire, and when i when i run a game that needs CF i'll have 30Hz on my 2nd monitor

How does that sound to you guys ?

per wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface), single link (1 plug) is

  • WQUXGA (3,840 × 2,400) @ 17 Hz (164 MHz)

and dual link (using 2 plugs) is

  • WQUXGA (3,840 × 2,400) @ 33 Hz with GTF blanking (2 × 159 MHz)

Display port is the way to go, I think - haven't looked in to it much since I determined reasonably priced single card 4k at 60Hz + is still a ways off, and HDMI 2.0 is capable of it, but is geared more towards Home Theater than GPUs.

Alright thx mate, i'll plug one screen per GPU via DP then

Is it possible to connect twice the same monitor at my computer ? This way i connect my second monitor via DP and when i want to enable CF the 30Hz HDMI on my first GPU will take relay.

Of course i know it's "possible" but will it work ? ;)
