always go latest, or with whatever one you like most if you have a preference.

we're at a point where OS doesnt *really* impact performance anymore, its rather a matter of how much resources its using. (mostly looking at ram here, if your os has a noticable cpu or gpu load, you need an upgrade, bro.)

Is it proven (benchmarked) that Win10 gives the highest average fps count regardless of DX12? I mean games that don't use dx12 such as GTA V, BF4...?

It pulls ahead a few FPS, with optimizations for games and things running in the background. DX12 is a bonus, and you have to have Windows 10 for that, too.

You can google it if you want to see benchmarks.

But I've heard that Windows10 is still not stable and has some serious driver issues. That true?

The differences on average are basically negligible for DX11 and earlier games. I'd recommend Windows 10 just because it's has the most recent improvements, support for games using DirectX 12, and in my opinion the best UI.

Windows 10 is stable. There are no driver problems that I'm aware of, provided you install a fresh copy of the new drivers for Windows 10. Drivers intended for other versions of Windows absolutely will not function.

I'd also recommend avoiding an upgrade from an earlier version of Windows, as a clean install can probably prevent some issues with application permissions.

Yes that is absolutely true i have a friend who vent back to windows 7 after a plethora of blue screens and other annoying issues and ticking sound

So you have to consider if the trade of is worth it in my opinion its not.

I've never had a driver issue, and I've never encountered instability that wasn't there before. Your mileage may vary.

IN THEORY that’s why i said for what. there is nothing out there made for dx12

The thing is, it's a low-level API (a lot like Mantle, a thing that did exist and was put in a game.) Hardware runs better with low-level APIs, so it's not really a theory that it will run better on DX12. It's just gonna happen.

Don't listen to @xgn, he has no idea what he's talking about.

Oye, thanks papi. Btw I also done heard that upgrading from Win7 or 8.1 isn't as good as doing a clean, fresh install. Is that true?

If performance is all you care about, 10. If you want to check functionality, pricing, controversial subjects like privacy, etc. then of course the answer varies a lot more.

Truth of the matter is that right now without DX12 titles out (and probably for a good while for enough titles to really matter a lot) the performance difference is there but mostly inconsequential for mid range systems or better. Like you might get 3% better performance which can easily be gained by a single setting or driver upgrade anyway, not something most people gaming only would care about.

If you have the option, a clean install would be better. If you're going to do an upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1, I'd recommend you do a full uninstall/reinstall of all of your relevant drivers with the Windows 10 versions.

I've also personally had some issues with application permissions when I did an upgrade. For instance, my music player would not read my keyboard's media keys unless I right-clicked the music player application and ran it as an administrator. It works fine now that I've done a new clean install.

No idea what im talking about really i have a friend who have been beta testing windows 10 since release as well as the stable release and vent back to windows 7 just 2 months ago.

HE know what he talking about i can guaranteed you that.

anecdotal evidence is irrelevant.

But anyways... There are issues with Windows 10 ATM, none of which are relevant to gaming. At least not with Nvidia graphics cards.

Example... Windows 10 sometimes has issues with re-sizing windows automatically. Not relevant to gaming.

LTT did this with basically margin of error performance differences only.

Cool. But uhm...if I choose to do a clean install, should I simply download the .iso file from Microsoft then create a bootable usb flash drive and boot from usb? If so, what serial code should I enter and/or how do I activate it?
