It's always better to have more wattage if you're overclocking. Those both would consume about ~200W non overclocked, but depends what else you have in the build. I'd try to stay safe with a 600-650W PSU if you want that

You should go for an R9 390 instead of the 970, more VRAM and slightly higher performance. 550W would be fine if you aren't going to oc too much but I'd say 600-650 if you're going to oc heavily.

550w is fine if you aren't planning on SLI and its from a good manufacturer like EVGA, Seasonic, Enermax, and some high end Corsair. Also Fractal Design and Superflower are pretty good

im only playing on 1080p 60fps ultra 60 hz panel theres no use for a 390 :P and i wont have the money for a 120/144 in a long time so not worth it imo and ill stick with 600. no reason to cheap out on psu to save some shiny pennies

You could get a 380 or 380x then... Using your logic a 970 would be overkill for 1080p too then :P

It should be perfectly fine if you're not gonna CF or SLI. For CF & SLI not so sure havent tried.
