I recently bought an EK-X Res with a DDC 3.2 PWM pump. This was not cheap but I did it as I want to be able to control my pump speed via PWM however now that I have the system up and running, no matter what I do the pump just goes at full speed. This is really getting annoying as it is quite loud and is not doing the job I wanted it too. It has both a Molex and a 4 pin PWM header and I have both plugged in. If someone could give me some tips for turning down the pump speed it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

The "PWM-header" isn't actully there to control the speed. It's just there to monitor the speed.

Edit: Okay - was wrong - look below...

no you can control the speed of the pump with a PWM wire header thing

Okay, didn't know that.

Well, then maybe he has to set the fan header to D/C in his bios, because it has only two cables. Or I might be wrong and he has to set it to PWM.

I know that this is possible in the BIOS of my ASUS Sabertooth.

Isnt it controlled by adding or decreasing voltage, cant you change the "fan curve" in the BIOS that the header controls in order to keep the pump running at one pace?

Been in the BIOS and have tried multiple times to change the CPU fan header profile, which the pump is plugged into but it just still runs at full speed.

tried changing the fan curves at different temperatures?

Whats your motherboard? Take a look and see if you can find out if it has a true PWM signal coming from the CPU fan header. I bet thats your problem, as not every motherboard actually sends a PWM signal, which is what your pump needs to modulate the RPM.

I have a z97 Pro from Asus, a fairly trustworthy brand and high end board. The pump is plugged into the CPU fan header which should be managed by Intel anyway, so I doubt thats the issue either, thanks for the suggestions thought

With asus boards you have to make sure your fan is set to 'auto', if it is set to 'advanced' that makes it a voltage controlled and not PWM. There also seems to be some problems when I look online about the z97 pro and people not getting PWM to work through the BIOS, so people have reported using speedfan and Asus AI suite. Maybe try setting up the fan header through these.
