how to add usb 3.0

how would i add more usb 3.0's without having to get a new motherboard 

CPU: i5 4690k  (overclocked to 4.3ghz)             CPU Cooler: Cryorig h7                 MOBO:  Msi Z97 pc mate             RAM: 8GB HyperX 1600 blue

GPU: rx480  4gb                                                 CASE: Corsair Spec-01 red              OS: Windows 10

PSU: EVGA 500   watt                                       SSD:    v60gb Mushkin ssd                HDD: 1000GB WD BLUE

I believe getting a new motherboard is pretty much the only way. I wouldn't trust the adapters out there, and you won't even be getting the full potential of USB 3 and some devices won't even operate correctly. USB 3 can provide more power than USB 2 and the device with USB 3 support won't be getting enough power.

 

EDIT: Completely forgot about PCI-E cards. You can try those if you have a desktop.

I believe getting a new motherboard is pretty much the only way. I wouldn't trust the adapters out there, and you won't even be getting the full potential of USB 3 and some devices won't even operate correctly. USB 3 can provide more power than USB 2 and the device with USB 3 support won't be getting enough power.

Oh, pci-e slots do offer some power, which is why some low end gpu's can get by without an extra power connector. If it doesn't have an auxiliary power connector, it probably doesn't need one.

It gets power from the PCI-E slot.

Most Power supplies have a 4pin molex spare to plug into that.
