Senheiser HD 558s vs HD 515s?

ScotFox
Go to solution Solved by ShearMe,

If you think you'll prefer a flatter response, get the 558's.

Ok guys, this is my final post before i purchase my sound card and headphones to upgrade my audio expierence. We managed to narrow it down to a Asus Xonar DG 5.1 sound card but that still leaves the headphones. We narrowed them down to a pair of the senheiser 500 series. But im torn between paying more for the HD558s over the HD 515? Anyone got anythoughts

Thanks, Fox

I personally think the 558 looks better then the 515's if that means anything.

Cool I have the same sound card  :D. But it really comes down to can you hear the difference. There is a difference, but can YOU hear it? That's where the narrowing gets tough is the slight differences in playback. If you can, try them out first before buying, head over to http://www.head-fi.org/ if no one gives you a straight answer here. The folks there will definitely have an answer for you.

You already have a thread asking about headphones, why did ya make another?!

515's are cheaper.

Also what will be the purpose for your headphone sound card combo? Games, Music, Video or something more specific like monitoring?

Positional audio in gaming, but i also love my music, but none if it is base heavy. I play games like Battlefield 3, DayZ etc where positional audio is important.
