It could be the PSU, it could be the overclock on your card wasn't stable, it could be the drivers. Return everything to stock and leave it for a bit, run a benchmark such as 3DMark11 and check your temps and for any artifacts. If you still have artifacts, it could point to a PSU issue more than anything. I would be looking at upgrading that PSU regardless of what the issue is anyway, a decent 500W would be enough.

I had a GTX 660TI and it ran perfect dips in the fps or heating problems or display problems but 660ti vs 7970 in watts is a big difference i believe

and no i dont have a extra PC or GPU to test i wish o_o only GPU i have is a HD 5450 and that wont pull any watts o_o lol..

Anyway im using a Aurora R3 what power supply do you guys recommend..

i was going for the gtx680 but couldnt find any in New jersey lol

but i honestly think its the PSU if it was the GPU wouldnt the artifacts stay there longer then 1 second ?

It runs a program, so just let the program finish. It's more for benchmarking, but runs well as a stress test.

It's Far Cry 3. If nothing else is doing it, it's the game. FC3 is VERY buggy on pc. People on OCN have reported the game being glitchy to all the way unplayable. There's a 174 page on the subject that I attatched. Skim through it and see if anyone has had a similar experience. Shame really, I played the game with little hitches and it's amazing.

Are you by any chance using a molex to 8 pin or a molex to 6 pin ?

Also , underclock the card as far as you possibly can to eliminate the possible power shortage as a variable, then do a stress test, something like a metro 2033 benchmark or bitcoin mining , bitcoin mining is an EPIC GPU stability testing method.

DO THIS BEFORE reading more increase power limit to the max/decrease memory speed 50mhz and redo these tests if that doesnt helps read below

the ONLY driver that was ok for me was 12.10 i was sick of these artifacts and driver issues after 12.10, download 12.10 WHQL, uninstall amd drivers then reboot and also run amd graphics driver cleanup utility, at last install 12.10
