GTX 980 or GTX 980ti?

I want to upgrade to a single card for gaming at 1440p. Not sure which one to go with.

Thoughts?

GTX 980 Ti for sure. But, for the same price as a 980, you could pick up an R9 Fury, which will be excellent for 1440p.

I have not really looked at the fury. Tbh, i have 2 XFX R9 280Xs and im really sick of them. Causing so many problems or me so I think im gonna switch to the green team. I have a red build atm so i was looking at the msi 980ti. Quite like the refrence one if there are any deals on either?

haha thats a bit of a downscale. I just want a new, powerful card without having to mess about. You can have them for £200

Is it?

the 690 competed with the 7990 which is dual 7970 and a 7970 is a 280x

but since you use pounds chances are shipping will cost more than all combined..

Well if you have the money and plan to be all set on 1440p for a while go for the GTX980TI. But the GTX980 will work in 1440p just fine. I have tested it here with the Asus PB278Q (native 1440p IPS monitor) and I´ve had in Witcher3 High to Ultra Settings always around 60FPS. Now that being said if you go for a GTX980 you might have to live with some reduced details with more upcomming AAA titles next year because of the absurd VRAM hunger of those poorly optimized games.

Ti, no doubt, 980 is too weak. Also depends on the game. Cant max out bo3 with one 980 and get decent frames.

The game is not a good reference at all sorry but that´s just another poorly ported console game... otherwise you wouldn´t need a Titan X´s 12GB memory for high textures.

But like I wrote before if money isn´t too tight the GTX980TI is a very good choice, in fact best high end card as of right now.

Regardless the 980 isn't enough for it compared to running the game at 1080. I compare 1080 120hz and 1440 144hz. If it cant max the game at those specs it isn't good enough.

Then sorry to say that you compare apples to pears period. Do you have any idea what kind of gpu raw horse power it takes to drive a 1440p 144Hz panel constantly with high FPS? A single GTX980TI won´t do...

And that makes you statement kind of obsolete here because the OP never stated he wants to go for SLI.

Not saying what he wants. Which is why I asked what games as all the cards are too weak. Pretty simple comparison if you have an idea of the games you play. Not everyone is blind to their own wants and needs.
