Motherboard/ Cpu combo for $200

mitsosvazelos84

Hello guys ,

I want to replace my athlon x4 750k with something beefier .

I was thinking something like a $60 lga1150 mobo and the rest on the cpu . I have a 500w PSU and an r9 270x that I don't want to bottleneck with the new hardware . My expectations are to play Star wars battlefront without spikes at high ( my r9 270x plays it on high in another pc with an i5 4460 ) I could go over the target price but not above $300 .

Finally , I guess that I will have to do a clean install right ?

thank you in advance , mitsosvazelos

Also what is up with the "security breach " thing on the log on screen ?

You could do a 4460 again, or go big and get this: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646e31231v3

This Xeon is basically an i7 4770 without an iGPU (4 Haswell cores clocked @3.4Ghz w/ Hyperthreading.) It's a little pricey, but it'll last you a long time.

I used to be quite active here.
