970 SLI to 980ti

CrusaderNINE

I know that the performance is similar in certain situations and one setup beats the other in others, but am I stupid for considering making the switch from my 970 SLI set up to a single 980ti? Should I wait for Pascal? I'm mostly looking for opinions here, I know it's my money and ultimately up to me, but I'd like some input. Thanks.

With your current setup it's best to just save your money IMO.

This is what I keep telling myself. GTA 5 and modded Skyrim will really like the VRAM though.

yes but it all depends on you, if you have a good source of income, you should just go with 980 Ti and sell your 970.  :D

The in-game VRAM indicator for GTA 5 must be more inaccurate than I've heard then. I get stuttering in both though.

just watch vids about the 970 vram unless youre playing in 4k you wont need that vram. I mean if youre that worried sell the 970's and get 390's

but if you want to upgrade, just go for it, sell those two 970 and you'll be fine unless you want to keep those 970s for future use :D

Thats a good idea. I might see if I know someone that might want one or both and make the decision from there.

4GB's of vram is more than enough for 1080p. You'll only be shooting yourself in the foot later if you do decide to purchase the 980 ti.

well i feel a little tiny bit of regret getting the 980 Ti but i am planning getting a 1440p in the future once i fully upgrade my PC. plus maximum ultra at 1080p.

True, but a 1440p/4K monitor is an eventual upgrade for sure.

Lol! All the more reason to wait for pascal. Pascal is pretty much built for 4K.

It's your money though, do whatever you want.

Just wait for pascal, or if you happen to run across a good deal for a 980ti (<$500) over Craigslist or something.
