120hz desktop / V-Sync&G-Sync = 144hz ingame?

If I have my monitor set to 120 hz at the desktop & V-sync & G-Sync enabled, (ROG Swift) but in nvidia control panel I have my monitors preffered refresh rate set to "highest available" will it change to 144hz in games?

 

I noticed v-sync/g-sync is capping at 144 FPS in games, but in the desktop I have it set to 120 hz.   So I assume it's changing once I enter a fullscreen game, to 144hz?

 

 

I have it set to 120 hz on desktop because of the annoying "bug?" with "turn-down-for-what" @ desktop 144hz.  ( GPU never enters idle clocks )

yup, I have my desktop refresh rate at 60 and games are set to run at 69 hz (colors look just a little washed up but fine for games)
