In linus' recent vessel video they go over the concept of using an "outdated" intel xeon platform for getting chart topping "bang for the buck"/"Performance per dollar" well I'm quite intrigued for multiple reasons, do note before hand: I already have a powerful PC you can see on my profile, but, I'm considering making a couple of these for a few reasons... New home router and/or Server (old server died, current routers crap) Guest PC, and a xmas gift for my mom (her current ones crap and dieing, it has an AMD Athlon 64 Sledgehammer CPU and I think 2GB of ram) she could use a stronger computer for her photoshop and such (and I could use something to use when I visit her)

Questions;
What chipset are these going to be using? and feature set of said chipset (such as SATA and PCIe gens) Linus mentioned his was wired for Gen1x8 would that be a problem for a home server and/or router bandwidth for wired transmissions(for say a NIC card)? Could better be gotten with a different motherboard?  max # of sata ports and how many Gb/s each? The motherboards would fit in a normal E-Atx case right? Any LGA 775 cooler will work with a 771 socket right?  note; I'm okay with modding things, just want to know before hand.

Please and thank you to anyone who answers or attempts to do so.  I'm going to bed I'll probably respond when I wake up in a few hours, so good night too.
