$300 gaming pc?

jtchimesin
Go to solution Solved by Midnitewarrior4,

This looks pretty good. But should I settle for the i3 or is AMD the better route to go with like a FX 4300 or something?

in literally every senario the i3 is better even using all cores it beats the 4300

http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/352/AMD_FX-Series_FX-4300_vs_Intel_Core_i3_i3-4160.html

not to mention potential upgrades to i5 and i7 later on

I want to build a $300 gaming pc for my little brother. I don't want anything fancy, and he gave me a budget of $300. I already have a case and storage, I just wanted to know what the best budget build I can do for him. Thanks.

at a budget like that, your best bet is to try to find as much as you can used or free. a AMD quad or intel dual core a few gens old usually comes pretty cheap, and you can usually get the whole platform as a combo.

Should be set then if you already have a case

Swap the hard drive for an SSD or get an 860K + 360/750ti with the dropped hard drive

Yeah, I think going for a GPU should be my best bet. If I had a little bit more money to spend, what card would you guys suggest? Note that I'm not wanting this thing to blow any game out of the park. :)

you can get a gpu in your budget look at my post, you can get a 750ti and play games at 1080p higher settings and gett decent fps, depending on the game

Why? An AMD processor as it is isnt good so toning it down on the CPU and getting a GPU is better. A FX 4300 is still good for a budget build

I bought all my parts brand new for exactly £300 including postage. So... I recommend an AMD Athlon x4 860k, 4GB of RAM, a simple motherboard, R7 360 and yeah. Have fun

My Rig:

Xeon E5 1680 V2 @ 4.5GHz - Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Mobo - 64GB DDR3 1600MHz - 8 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Low Profile - CAS 10-10-10-27 - AMD Radeon RX 6700XT Sapphire Pulse 12GB - DeepCool E-Shield E-ATX Tempered Glass Case - 1 x 1TB Crucial P1 NVMe SSD - BeQuiet Straight Power 11 850W Gold+ Quad rail - Fractal Design Celsius S36 & 6 x 120mm silent fans - Lenovo KBBH21 - Corsair Glaive RGB Pro - Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Monitors - 3 x Acer Nitro 23.8" 1080p 75Hz IPS 1ms Freesync Panels = AMD Eyefinity @ 75Hz

Yeah but its $40 mors. and most games now are not as heavily CPU oriented. a 4300 would work. An intel processor would be better though

then you can have upgrade path, still better for older games that like single core performance and such, not bashing amd but the 4300 is lacking i wish they would just release a new cpu already like dam you think oh hey this companies about to die lets keep holding out while intel rules the market, makes no sense

Thanks for your feedback. I'll probably post again in the forums before I buy

good idea, always double check and check benchmarks on youtube to get an idea of what your going to be able to run on the machine, the i3 and 750ti combo is a pretty sweet budget build and will play alot of games at good settings at 1080p
