(windows 10)   So I got this virus somehow that makes it so everytime (almost) I click on something (right and left click) an ad pops out.

Some ads just pop in to another tab other ones pop up on the website I am at. The ads that appear on normal websites says "ads by lucky bright" So I googled on how to remove this and I came over this https://malwaretips.com/blogs/ads-by-lucky-bright-removal/

I did every step but it didn't work because firstly there isn't any unusual program in my programs list, everything is normal so i decided to do a system restore to a previous date but I couldn't, it said "system restore failed because blablabla"  I read that this could be because antiviruses or a virus is interfering. I looked up on how to start my pc in Safe Mode because I heard that no third-party programs could interfere then. But It didn't work once again

This time it said something like "System restore failed, An unknown problem occured during the system restore"

Here I am very confused and angry. Is there anybody that have a solve for this one? Thank you.

I'm not a pro at this kind of stuff so I don't know if this is the right thread to post on, sorry if this is the wrong one

I must add that one of the antimalware programs I used removed this issue on firefox but I don't use firefox, mainly chrome.

When I investigate more closely it seems like chrome is the only browser that gets ads (tried firefox, IE, edge, chrome)

Have you tried malwarebytes?

Also, do you use IE, or an actual browser like Chrome?

You could just reinstall the OS which if all the more common options have failed is probably your best bet.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

tried like everything, including that

Well then...

Just reinstall windows.

Yeah, I think it's time.  Personally, if I ever got infected I would just do this anyways out of paranoia.

yay lucky bright!

easy fix. uninstall it, and anything else that looks like adware(lucky bright, conduit, better brain, etc), go into internet explorer(even if you dont use it), and chrome, and reset them, make sure to double check and remove any browser extensions you dont recognize as well.  then run malwarebytes. if that doesnt work, combofix

Just reinstall windows.

dont do this, this is dumb

The thing is, there is nothing to uninstall everything is as it was before i got the virus.

its installed somewhere.  lucky bright is basically nothing more than a browser extension.  it may not show up in add/remove programs, but i promise it shows up somewhere. look through your program files, through documents, make sure to reset your browsers! even just running a system search for it will probably pull up its root folder and you can delete it that way.

malwarebytes should find it and remove it by itself though.

and what is that?

What are you on? He HAS A VIRUS. HE CAN'T USE HIS PC.

he has simple adware/malware that shouldnt take more than 10-15 minutes to manually remove, even without malwarebytes/combofix. why the hell would you reinstall your os for that?  os reinstall should always be a last resort when there are no other options. for some viruses, sure. but for this? dont be rediculous

Take a look at this https://gyazo.com/402dbe550ffd2b723d3644d630884763 malwarebytes found luckybright but it has found it multiple times but when I restart my PC the ads are still there

and what is that?

Can't answer that fully without breaking CoC but suffice it to say, I'm curious to see how this uninstall the software and keep the OS plan turns out...

Reinstalling Windows seems a bit extreme when I've had similar things happen to me and it took a bit of searching but I eventually managed to uninstall the adware and everything went back to normal. As someone's already said, make sure that it's removed from everywhere that you can think of before restarting your PC.

you havent reset chrome. those are literally sitting in chromes data storage. navigate to that folder and manually delete them

now im really curious as to wtf you're talking about. if you want to pm me with your opinions, i'd love to hear it. but there is absolutely no reason he should need to reinstall the os for basic adware. would you buy a new car because you got a flat tire? fix it and move on. its not hard

Oh sorry, you misunderstand, I don't mean I know what the problem is/how to fix it, I was referring to this whole... situation, in general

I believe you are right, this should be fixable without reinstalling (but that analogy is a little extreme/inaccurate)

im still confused as to how anything could be coc breaking..lol but it seems that you werent tryin to talk shit. mah bad! and yea the analogy is a little extreme lol  i hate when peoples first response to simple malware/adware is to instantly jump to reinstall the os. yeah it works, but why when there is a really simple fix

This must be because of a program that is downloaded on my computer right? I'll just have to find it... somehow, any tips?

Reset Chrome by going to chrome://settings/ > Show advanced settings > Reset settings.

Get and run Adwcleaner.

have you checked your chrome extensions to make sure there is nothing there?

if not try resetting chrome. settings>advanced settings>reset settings.

also delete your temp files.

EDIT:and like @olbaze said,  adwcleaner is your friend here.

I would suggest that you check if any of the addons you have installed in chrome as it looks like one of them might have had an update which bundled in extra advertising packages (of which a few have been bundling adware with their addons recently).

You can also disable everything and turn each one back on to see if you can track down which one is the cause and then kill it for good.
