hello,

when i boot the laptop i get a screen saying the laptop needs to be repaired with the error message 0xc0000034,

which means: Boot Configuration Data file missing. I made a recovery usb and followed the steps on this page

but the automatic repair didn't do anything except saying that automatic repair couldn't fix it.

Then i tried entering the commands in cmd, but i received an error with the last command: Bootrec /rebuildbcd.

I was asked if i wanted to add installation to bootlist, i entered yes and it gave me an error and stopped the operation.

The other options were No and All, what happens when i enter one of those options? How do i fix this error?

I also tried to backup the bcd to my C-drive(the drive in the laptop) but that also failed.

yeah i tought about that, but how do you do that when you have an oem laptop and no windows image? Besides downloading it illegally i mean.

Actually, the windows key should be tied to the mother board or something.

Story time

A few months ago I installed windows 10 on my laptop which had a 7200 rpm HDD. I had major lag, long boot times, programs took forever to load, it sucked. It got so bad to the point that it was completely unusable. So i tried to reinstall windows but it failed, and I had failed because I forgot to grab the key before I did that. So now I have a dead boot drive, all my work gone, but hey, I just built my first PC which had an SSD boot drive and I was loving it. So I bought a new SSD for my laptop, got windows 10 ready on a USB, and installed it. The windows install worked, never asked for a key which I thought was weird cause I was hoping that I could attempt to get away with an unregistered windows 10. Well, as soon as it installed I checked if it was licensed and sure enough, it was. So yes, it is safe to do a completely fresh install.

Your laptop has a UEFI BIOS I take it? Because that's one of the benefits of UEFI, your Windows key is stored in the BIOS itself and can be retrieved.
