Which GPU is better?

Go to solution Solved by Virtual01,

390 gets a few more frames in most games (<5) but uses more power. It's also slightly cheaper. 970 gets less frames but has fancy Nvidia features.

Okay so i need to know which graphics card would be better the R9 390 or the GTX 970. Here's my build i'm going to build next month.

Edit: I'm planning to play high end games like Fallout 4 and Just Cause 3 and also is my build good for entry level.(Probably a dumb question)

If you want some thing better than a R9 390 , I can sugguest the R9 390 x or the R9 Fury nano and if you have the space for it in your case , The R9 FuryX .

Those are the highest GPU's in the AMD side .

But if you have a little bit more dosh to speand , Then join the green side ( Nvidia i mean ) .

I love the green side(nvidia) but my budget is 1300$ and i was thinking this would be the best for my money but not to sure what to do. And is my build good enough to last 3 to 4 years with the R9 390. Also will the R9 390 work will with Fallout 4 because thats the game i gonna spend most of my time on

Currently at this moment , The red side (AMD) ( well as i know it ) has nothing better than the R9 FuryX GPU.

You could buy 2 R9 285 and crossfire them if you have the money for it.

The red side's 390 and 390x are the 3rd and 4th highest GPU that the red side is offering.

P.s going to be really bummed out if any one is not getting my refrences to star wars , Red Side , Green side....

Ok you know what , Here is the recommended specs for Fallout 4 :

Recommended

Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)

Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent

8 GB RAM

30 GB free HDD space

NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

So yeah , It will run fallout 4 easy . If you just looked up the recommended specs for fallout 4 , you would not have to deal with my sorry ass.

If you're not absolutely attached to that case, get a Phanteks Enthoo Pro M or Fractal Design Define S. They're much better build quality. You can also step down your power supply to 650 watts. Unless you find a really good deal on a 970, get a 390.

Cases with better build quality. Look up the HardwareCanucks reviews for each of them. I high recommend the Arc Midi R2 and Ethoo Pro M
