Bad Static From Headphones

I have Kingston Hyper X Cloud Headphones and I keep getting a faint static when I'm not playing any audio. Should I buy a soundcard or an external amp/dac? There is no clear answer. I am plugged directly into my MOBO. I am using the inline amp that comes with the Clouds. I would rather not spend more than 100 dollars. Also, I am using analog to my mobo. Not USB.

Yeah that's the sound the Mobo makes. I don't know the best way to fix it. I know a external dac is good, but I'm not a sound buff.

Silly potential fix. I'm using the Diablo 3 edition SteelSeries at work and I noticed I was getting static sometimes too. Turned out the USB port they were plugged into was dying. When I went to unplug them the plug was HOT to the touch. After many expletives and a couple hours when it was cooled down, I tried it in a different plug just to be certain it wasn't the headset... and they've been running cool and static free ever since...

 

TL;DR: Try a different port.

Sounds like you are using that USB crap since you mentioned inline amp. Plug the headset into the 3.5mm jacks on the motherboard, don't use that inline crap. See if the sound diminishes.

Its not a USB. It's male connectors.

have you tried plugging into the cases or around the back (which ether your not currently using)

It does it on both.

I only have a iPad

And it works fine on that with the adapter.
