860K. You need a quad core to run all the games without any issues.

I think G3258 outperforms 860k. But quad core is a must now since some games wont run at dual core. So better get 860k.

What do you mean 'outperforms'? The 860k is more powerful if all cores are used by 15-20% depending on the overclocks, the thing Pentium excels at is single-core performance, which, while being very important in today's gaming, is not enough cause of it being only a dual-core.

Im a total newbie but I learned that we should really everything on the specified specs.

Though safe pick will be going 860k since some games wont run at dual core.

Those FPS don't really show the stuttering that the Pentium experiences cause of being a dual core, I highly doubt the GTA V score since it's CPU heavy and runs relatively well on AMD FX series, the Pentium would bottleneck most GPUs there

Games nowadays prefer quad cores over dual cores, so X4 860k.

It is the best choice, but only a technical quad core-2 modules 4 threads.

It will all really depend on the games TS will play and his budget. If he has good budget he might want to consider getting i5.

He actually has a 400$ budget. There is no better choice here, as soon as the game gets CPU heavy, the Athlon pulls out ahead cause it's simply 15-20% more powerful overall. Also, not every game works on a dual core anymore ;-; Some don't but there are mods fixing the issue, I wouldn't buy a CPU, personally, if I had to mod a game for it to even run on it

Yea I mentioned that as well. Some modern games wont run at dual core anymore. We dont need to argue as you see my pick is also 860k since I do explore games from time to time.
