Correct me if I'm wrong, do you really need the disk that comes with your computer to factory reset it?

My case is that I'm getting my sister's old laptop but I don't want her stuff on there and I want to reset it. It's a Toshiba Satelite with a core i5 from 3-4yrs ago. Don't have the reset disk or what ever it is. Is it possible? Or do I need to reinstall windows?

You can just reinstall windows, and then download the drivers for it.

If win 7 or 8/8.1 there should be a key on the bottom of the laptop itself or under the battery.  Or, you can simply use this.  https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/  To find the key.  You aren't changing the mobo, so it will work.

was win 8 but win 10 now
