So, I have a school laptop atm. But I cannot afford a new monitor. Is there a way to make my HDMI output on my laptop into an input?

no you can't, i tried it before :P . but there is a software to share screens it may help. i'm sorry but i don't remember it name

You will have to run the laptop and your other system side by side.
