Hello, I'm in the market to build my PC since black friday is coming soon. Question is, I don't know what processor is right for me, and should I get the older Haswell or the newer Skylake?

The things i'll do with the PC are:

  • Netflix streaming
  • Basic web browsing
  • Photo shop editing
  • Some occasional AAA gaming (Mostly when new titles release, i'd play on weekends only)
  • CSGO/Heroes of the storm mostly

Location: USA

Budget: $800

Get a haswell processor, skylake isn't worth the extra for people who are just going to game and do light editing and some other stuff. The money you save on the cpu, ram and mobo could be used for better on the gpu.

A Skylake i3 seems like a good deal for you. Later on, you can sell it and get a Kaby Lake i5/7, if you feel the need for more performance.
