Hi all,

This is my first post in LTT forums. I am a avid LTT watcher and would like some advice on a upgrade decision.

What I have...

CPU:               Intel Core i7-2600K@ 4300 MHz
Motherboard:  MSI P67A-GD65 (MS-7681)
Memory:         16Gb PC12800 DDR3 SDRAM - G Skill
Graphics:       x2 EVGA e-GeForce GTX 970 in SLI
OS:                Microsoft Windows 10 Professional

I can not decide on upgrading my cpu, ram, mobo or getting a 980 ti. The cpu's I am considering are i7 5820k and the i7 6700k.
The gpu is equivalent performance with the current SLI setup I have. The cpu upgrade path is more expensive. I can't seem to make a decision.
Any help thoughts comments would be awesome. Thanks!

I'd suggest going for the i7 4790k and a z97 mobo, that way you don't have to go get new ram, unless you're fine with paying more to get DDR4 with the i7 6700k and z170 mobo.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

I have a problem. Need new and shiny. Plus I like staying up to date so I do not have to upgrade so often.

Definitely the mobo + cpu + RAM. Take a look at the pcper.com 6700k review video (youtube or from their site) where they compare frame rates of a 2600k verses a 6700k. If you bought a 980ti it would actually often be slower than the pair of 970s you have so definitely mobo + cpu + RAM.
