Hi all,

I've currently got an EVGA GTX 980 SC. My case is a Corsair 250d, so temps on the graphics card are generally good as it is basically centimeters away from ventilation- this, however, poses other problems. Majorly, my system is quite loud under load- as there is no real insulation and/or noise dampening provided by the case. For this reason I've changed the fan speeds, so that the GPU essentially runs with fans off @60 degrees (and lower) @20 % fan speed from 60-75 and then 30% fan speed from 75-85 degrees. In most cases, (playing games like BF4, BLOPS 3 and other titles @1440P, w/ my monitor set to 144HZ) the card runs at about 78-84 degrees~ I've never really seen it go any higher. Was just wondering if this is safe?- or would it be better to rather get another mITX case that provides greater sound dampening, and then letting the card run at a greater fanspeed to reduce temps?

Regards

Well, on nvidias GPU boost 2.0 page it shows that optimal temps are 80 celsius so it should be safe

85*C is the max safe temp for Maxwell - anything beyond that may damage the chip
