I installed a ssd in place of a hdd on a asus laptop.

started with a clone of the drive, worked for a few days and then began to freeze and start the mouse busy icon.

They happened sooner and sooner after start up and would have to shut down due

to losing all control of the laptop.

Did a clean install of windows 10 to the ssd and seemed fine for a day and issue came back. It boots up, can run applications but in 3 to 10 mins will freeze.

I can move the mouse around but cant click anything.

Hey there fellow Captain :)

Cloning a HDD on a SSD usually involves a lot of risk and often causes problems. good job on the fresh install of hte OS on the SSD. Did you wipe/format the SSD before you put the OS on it?
I'd first check if there are any new driver or OS updates for your system. Checking the health of the SSD is also a good idea so you can exclude it as the cause of the problems. Get a diagnostic tool from the manufacturer and see if the drive passes all tests. Checking the raw  values of the S.M.A.R.T. status can give you a more detailed information regarding the drive's health and performance.

Post back with the results :)

So ive kind of found the issue. My disk usages shoots to 100% and freezes the computer when nothing is running, only task manager. Sometimes multiple things are running and it takes 3 mins to just skip around the 90's then hit 100 and freeze. Ive been trying to use the utilities of the adata ssd toolbox to update the firmware and was looking at link power management but not sure what ill do just yet, since im at the will of this ssd.

also not really sure how to read the smart status!

Thanks for the reply!

I'd contact the manufacturer of the SSD for further suggestions and info. The guys there should be able to give you some advice. Those things look like signs that the drive may be going bad.
Post the S.M.A.R.T. status here with the raw values and we can help you out reading them. :)

Have you updated and installed all drivers? Also, update the BIOS if needed. Windows 10 is really picky on drivers apparently (I myself am troubleshooting which driver is causing my PC not to shut down / start up correctly).

I would recommend using crystal disk info to get the SMART info. Just watch out for the inbuilt ads in the installer. Post what values you have for the SMART data.
