M.2 worth it?

Well what is a better drive than what I have now that I can use as a boot drive. Seen those intel aluminum brick and they have great reviews. Basically looking for something that I can use to migrate this 840 over as a game drive. My limit is $300 USD.

I was wondering is the m.2 series of ssd worth the cost. I am using a 250 gig Sammy 840 evo as a boot drive.  Was wanting to clone it over to a m.2 and use the 840 as a drive for GTA5, BF4, and FO4 (games with long loading times)

 

Which m.2 is good?

 

My mobo is a Gigabyte z97 gaming 7 and it supports m.2

m.2 is just a form factor.

 

PCIe based ssd's are never "worth it". They are vanity items to be honest (and I have one in the mail...)

 

Besides the z97 gaming 7 will cap any pcie m.2 at 1.5 GB/s which is imho kinda a waste.

I don't think so, and that's not the full M.2 that you actually need to properly utilize things like the 950 Pro. that only comes standard on Skylake boards, possibly only Z170.

For about 10-20$ more, its worth it. Its almost as extreme as the jump from HDD to SSD.

Or should I get another ssd and use that as a game drive. I'm using a 7200 Seagate hdd and its loud and SLOW.

Keeping my 840 as a OS drive and ordering a 850 1tb for games. I am gonna wait for cyber Monday sales.  B)
