Hi everyone,

I'm new on this forum, but i already used advices given to others on this site for my research and i have to say you guys are great :)

I want to build a Gaming-PC that can handle new games such as Battlefield 4, The Witcher, Fallout 4 and SW Battlefront on pretty much max.-settings at 1440p. I will use this PC mainly for gaming and everyday use. At the moment i don't have a PC anymore (i gave my old one to a friend a couple of years ago) but i've still got my peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitor etc.) so nothing needed there. I want a PC that can handle 1440p gaming because i'm planing to upgrade to a 1440p monitor in the future, although i currently only have a 1080p monitor.

My budget for this build is about 1700-2000$ (i live in Switzerland so pricing may be different here). After my research i came up with something like this:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qLwcwP (this Build would cost me around 2000 Swiss Francs)

So my first question is, if this build is ok or if you guy see anything i could improve in general. There are a couple of things that i'm not really sure about, the motherboard, PSU and the CD/DVD drive. So if you see anything i could improve there or just other options i should consider, i would appreciate your advices   :)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Spend less on the SSD with maybe a Samsung 850 EVO, get a WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda instead of the 3TB green (2TB at most, failure rates are high for 3TB drives iirc). Also, I wouldn't recommend that PSU, get an EVGA G2/GS 550W instead.

Btw welcome to the forums :D Please remember to follow your own threads.

Much Better?

Thaks for your suggestions RaptorCandy, it would indeed be much better, but here in Switzerland the pricing unfortunately is different. So this build would cost me 2300.- Swiss Francs, and thats simply too much for me. (You forgot the OS)

The other option (my picks above with switched out PSU/SSD) would cost me 1843.- Swiss Francs.

My next question is, do i benefit from getting the i7 over the i5? And what motherboards would you suggest? Is the Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX any good or do you guys have a better option for me?

Edit: Here in Switzerland the i7-6700k costs 499.- Swiss Francs and the i5-6600k costs 289.- Swiss Francs. (A difference of 200.-)

If it's a $200 difference, don't get it unless you're going to be doing video editing and rendering. If you need to save a bit, could switch to a Fury X, as it tends to be cheaper.

Ok, i'm also thinking it would be better to get the i5, since i'm not planing to do video editing and such.

Thanks for the tip with the Fury X but i really like Nvidia Cards (had one in my old PC) and i think i will go with the 980ti although it costs a bit more.

What do you think about the motherboard?

Edit:

I forgot to mention that i'm new to it but i want to do some overclocking with this build (not fully to the limit so i don't think i need watercooling). That's why i'm asking for suggestions for a Motherboard.

So here's what i've picked now:

(This build costs me 1830.- Swiss Francs)

CPU: i5 6600K | Cooling: Corsair H100i GTX | Motherboard: Asus Z170-A | RAM: 16GB HyperX Fury | GPU: Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming (6GB) | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro | Storage: Samsung 850 EVO Basic (1TB) | PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 (1000W) | Display(s): 27'' Asus PG279Q | Keyboard: Steelseries Apex M800 | Mouse: Steelseries Rival | Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro | OS: Windows 10 | PC Part Picker URL: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WwL7zy

So i thought about it a little and i think i could spend a little bit more for doulbing the RAM and a Watercooling. I also changed the motherboard as it's about the same price and i like the looks of the Z170-A.
