You can use x16 as x1; just plug in the card as you normally would.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

I was thinking I could put a wireless card in there or something. Especially if I decide to add another video card of some sort.

Yeah, that would work fine in an x16 slot. The nice thing about pci slots is that just because a slot is physically one number of lanes doesn't mean you can't use a card with more/less lanes. I think Linus has a video where he cuts out the end of a x4 slot and puts an x8 or x16 card into it, and it works fine.

I know about that :P but it seems like you would be able to do something like M.2 --> PCIe

My motherboard has an M.2 slot which I'm never going to use. Is it possible to get an M.2 to PCIe converter? I'm unhappy with my motherboard not having a PCIe x1 slot but the board is what I need. :)

I would use the M.2 with an M.2 3.0 SSD. Its much faster.
