So there are lots of decent DSLRs and other cameras that soot 1080p video. There are also lots of 4k shooting ones as well. I cant seem to find any that shoot 1440p (excluding things like the GoPro).

Basycally I am wondering if there are any lower-priced DSLRs, morrorless, etc. that shoot 1440p video. I am looking to buy a better camera and want a bit more resolution so I can zoom in a bit in post and still output full 1080p video. Also, It has to accomodate some type of lenses though I am not particular about the mount at this point.

Thanks alot,

SC

Not that I could find. There are plenty of very high quality cameras that shoot 1080p. If you are streaming or recording you shouldn't need a higher resolution.

Also, You can record at 1080p and upscale the video to 1440p.

Sadly no, it records up to 1080p.

So are there any decent cameras that you know of that record decent 1440p (not quite 4k). All the 4k stuff is eay out of my budget. I just dont see things advertised as 1440p.

Because 1440P isn't really a term used in video - nothing's broadcast in it, movies aren't screened in it etc. It's a computer term.

You want something like a 2.5K or 3K camera but all that really leaves you in any remotely affordable realm is the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. Which by all accounts will have better image quality and dynamic range than pretty much any similarily priced 4K camera while maintaining some extra resolution. Still likely outside of your budget.

Technically there are 4K capable cameras within a consumer budget range.

But yes, as @Dredgy stated, 1440p is not a video recording standard, it's a display standard.  Even 4K has several different resolutions, while consumers have come to accept 16:9 ratio as a display standard, not every 4K resolution is 16:9.

Additionally what you want to do, zoom-in in post, 1440p is not significantly larger than 1080p FHD, unlike 4K where you could zoom in a lot.
