Fallout 4 Video Driver crashes

Alright. Bought Fallout 4. Love it. But, I will randomly get a black screen for no reason after a random amount of time, and I can hear game audio and everything, but I have no view, forcing me to restart, as alt+tab, Windows Key, and Ctrl+Alt+Del d nothing at all. After this happened the last time, I went to the Event Viewer and checked out what reports were being thrown out around the time of the screen going black. I found "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." at the time of the black screen coming up, indicating that my video driver for my 390x crashed, and recovered, but obviously didn't bring up the display again for whatever reason. Is there any way I can increase the stability of the driver/avoid another driver crash so I can enjoy Fallout 4 in peace?

disable Gameworks stuff for 1 thing. Did you have a Nvidia card before? Did you remove those drivers via DDU?

I did not ever have a Nvidia GPU in this system, and I am unsure if there are any gameworks options for Fallout 4, will give it a double check tho.

There are no gameworks options I can disable for Fallout 4.

Try reinstalling drivers? Or update to the new beta ones?

 

I just upgraded to the day old beta drivers AMD released and I haven't had any problems as of yet. I also was up to date with my drivers before the beta update and I wasn't having problems either.

There are no gameworks options I can disable for Fallout 4.

use DDU to reinstall then.

Godrays are Gameworks - some more stuff also exists from the GW library

Hm... Sure? I don't know honestly as I can luckily say I've never had driver problems so I'm no expert troubleshooter. :wacko:

Did you OC your system ? Mainly your gpu ?

Nope. Not a bit. Not even AMD overdrive.

Try it - if it's still crappy rvert to an older driver/update to a newer one or just reinstall

Crashed again. Only took 2 minutes, lol.

Gonna try the current nonbeta driver.

Several reboots later, I have the normal AMD Catalyst driver installed. Will run Fo4 and see if it crashes. Almost considering dropping Fo4 for the minute and playing CSGO. Waiting on reboots while using a terribad laptop HDD is awful.

Oh, wow. This drive surprises me every day.

It froze, entirely, during boot. My computer that is. No response to input. :/

Well, I finally booted into W10 with the nonbeta driver. Played fallout 4 for fifteen minutes, no crash, going to assume I'm good and either play this or CSGO.

MSX? You should have said so earlier - that's your issue. MSX is HIGHLY unstable - a friend upgraded and 15 mins in his GTX 660 gave him a BSOD :D
