This might be far fetched and I figured if anyone knew how to help me they'd be in the LTT forums. Basically, I pre ordered battlefront with the assumption it would run on my G3258/GTX960 rig because it ran just fine in the beta. However upon opening the game last night I was greeted with a black screen as detailed in this ea answers post I created. (Link: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/BLACK-SCREEN-WITH-SOUND-HELP/m-p/4948390#U4948390 ).

The community there has come to conclusion that out CPUs (mostly G3258s and other pentiums) are unable to run battlefront. The screen is blank but in game music can be heard and I can click on menu items which gave me the assumption that the game is running fine, it's just a software restriction.

So my question is- is it possible to make battlefront think my CPU is an i3 or something like that to test and see if the game launches and runs when it thinks it's running on an i3

No.

Simply put, unlike AMD's old Phenoms where the cores were simply disabled, the Pentiums and i3s and shit actually don't have those physical parts.

I highly doubt it, as it would most likely require changes in the registry entries, BIOS tweaks (possibly custom) and other stuff, so I do not think you can. I also think that the CPU tells the system what it is.

Quote me in replies so I see them.

your best bet is forcing the game to start regardless of what cpu you have. maybe something like safe mode?
