yesterday i was asking for 980ti vs FuryX

my friend decided to buy 980ti...

so now he's looking at cpu's

he can get a new 4590 for 220€, or used 4440 for 140€

that's pretty big difference, will 4440 work good with 980ti? (gaming)

Yes, But they might be a tiny bottleneck (which i don't believe.)

stretch yourself for few more dollars and buy "K" version, overclock a bit if you think that the cpu is a bottleneck. nice combination doe

Sorry for bad English or grammar mistakes, im from croatia.

feel free to take a look at my build and suggest some changes!

Depends on the game.

Badly made ports run like shit for most people.

Decently made games won't have much issue with the performance the i5 normally provides.

Tested this 9 months or so ago,.... Almost all of my games run at full performance and full GPU performance even when I declock my 4690 down to 3.2Ghz, the scenario's below were encountered at 3.2Ghz that I remember, and is indicative enough of the i5 you chose.

All my other games besides the ones below, are all in perfect performance, GPU usage is at 100%, expected performance is seen across the board.

Only a few specific examples of limitations can occur at random times, but usually quickly recovers.

EG: AC:Unity (Bad port but still) When there are a HUGE amount of NPC's (characters on screen) my CPU usage hits 100% across all cores, yet my GPU usage still stays around 90% or more. Still giving completely acceptable performance.

Crysis3 (only one of the maps) with heaps of grass and such can cause excess CPU usage that drops GPU usage, I've found it only an issue on one map, but its there.

Most games won't have an issue, some games can like above, usually only in certain circumstances.

Even then, the CPU still has the balls to provide ample framerates from the GPU, even when the CPU is pegged with super-high usage.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Without overclocks or multipe GPUs, all of your GPU bound games (which is like 90% of them) will not be on a bottleneck. CPU intensive games will require something better but unless you can't live without maxed out everything on some exceptions like Arma III you'd be just fine with a 4440.
