Water Cooling Non Ref Cards

Hey guys,

 

A friend of mine wants to watercool a GTX 780 but is it possible to water cool a non ref card even if the waterblock says ref board design.

 

If not is there any way to check if said water block will fit and be compatible with a certain non ref board.

If the card uses a reference PCB, yes.

Non ref cards will get special blocks made by: EK, XSPC, etc. Only those blocks will actually fit the non ref cards.

Yeah it shouldn't be hard to find if they make water blocks for it. Try a Google search and look for cooling configurator it should bring you to EK website for info on compatible gpus.

you can always expect a non-reference block from EK, not many other watercooling companies bother with non-reference :/

the card is a reference board with a diferent cooler so a reference block will fit on the board.....the only time you would need to look for a different waterblock is if you were buying a non-reference PCB e.g Asus DIRECT CU II GTX780

You can grab a GPU itself only block like this one from XSPC, designed for reference but there shouldnt be anything on the PCB above the GPU that blocks the fittings. It won't cool VRM or RAM though like a full block :(
