I have watched tons of videos including the ones from linustechtips and NCIX but the problem is the power supply cable connections aren't too elaborated (or I am just too dumb to understand it). I hope my queries can be solved without mentioning me as a 'noob' since I've never built a PC before:

1. Can the 24 Pin connector which goes from the psu to the motherboard fit both ways. And if it does, will it work.

2. Are there any cables whose orientation I should be extremely aware of (the ones which can cause a disaster if wrong)?

3. Should I connect the motherboard or the graphics card to the monitor?

Thank you very much :)

1. No it wil only fit in one way.

2. Yes, the HDD LED, Reset LED, Power LED, Power Switch

3. Plug it into the graphics card.

1) It fits only one way.

2) All cables fit only one way

3) Graphics Card - MB will limit you to onboard intel graphics

If I do it wrong somehow (something like fitting negative to positive and vice versa), is there any component which could fail or damage my components as a result or is it fine if I make mistakes when connecting these cables?

3. Connecting your monitor to the GPU will use the GPU. Connecting to the motherboard will use the iGPU

The connectors are designed so that they go in only one  way. If you've got to force it to plug it in, it's probably the wrong way.

If you somehow manage to plug them in there's a pretty good chance of killing the components

For the front panel connections, check your motherboard's manual and plug them in accordingly (the connectors should be labeled accordingly)

If you'd managed to jam any power cord wrong way it would kill all connected devices. For data cables it only damaged cable and connector... which is almost as bad. With mobo-case connectors, no need to worry. We all connect them wrong way at some point. Those carry so little power that it won't damage anything.

PSU power connectors for mobo, CPU and GPU have small latches which click into place. Connector itself has 5-angle shape that fits only one way. SATA power and data cables are L-shaped. Fan connectors have slot which locks it.
