Installing Windows 7 Via USB

nukem
Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

Okay. Post back your results. Also, if it doesn't work on your intended computer, try booting off of the flash drive using a different computer to make sure it's not your specific computer that's the problem.

This is my first time using a UEFI bios, im on a maximus 6 hero and am trying to install windows 7 via USB, ive already created the bootable drive, in the bios ive selected my USB drive as my first priority boot drive, enabled Full USB utilization.

but when i save changes and restart it brings my right back into the bios instead of booting into the windows setup. what am i doing wrong lol?

You can also simply go to the Boot Menu and choose USB devices or your specific drive(however it's listed.).

Yes. It may also be a problem with how the ISO was written to the flash drive. What program did you use? You can use this program by Microsoft to create a bootable flash drive: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

yep thats the one im using, altough this may be an older one its been sitting on my laptop for awhile.

The first time i created the bootable drive , the drive itself was plugged into a USB3.0 port on my laptop (the drive is only usb2.0)

so im trying to create it while plugged into the usb2.0 port this time, just in case that had something to do with it.

It seems like you haven't installed the OS properly on the USB, with the right format etc. Just read a few forums and watch a few youtube videos^^

Also the link above to the Windows thing didn't work for me either so i used this: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

also the guide u just linked me to seems to require having an optical drive to copy the files, which i dont have :(
