Hi guys,

I working on choosing the parts for my first build and i've got a list of some potential pieces that I would really love some advice on. I'm a student in the U.S. and working with about $850, not including a monitor or peripherals. I want to do some pretty heavy gaming as well as light productivity work. I have 22" 1080p display and I want to build a system that can handle that as well as a 1440p display (size yet to be determined). I want to be able to game on the 1440p at about 45 fps+ and I'm not pushing to get 60 fps out of a build at this price. Last, I want to be able to upgrade or atleast have a system that lasts for a while and can handle some multitasking. Here a list that ive put together so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: Zotac Premium Edition 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Graphics Card:Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video Card

Power Supply: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

I haven't yet settled on a case, though I'm not planning on getting to crazy with the price, and the graphics is the part of the list that is least thought out. This is simply because I have no idea with this part. I compiled the list on pcpartpicker so here's a link if that is easier:

Any help/advice would be hugely appreciated!

so this kind of setup could handle two monitors? also, is there a significant enough difference between quality of brands for the hard drive and the power supply? when I do start to buy the parts, will it matter if I go with another brand that's cheaper as long as the power supply is certified? Thanks for the help!

It can handle 2 monitors(one for gaming, one for multi tasking) pretty well, I have the exact same GPU(Galaxy GTX 770) and a weaker CPU(i7-3770), also handles modern games really good on 1080p.

From what I know, WD is a trusted company, although about 4 Caviar Blues have failed on me(apparently they are not made for gaming).

I don't know about power supplies, but you should ask about them here.

EDIT:

Got confused, a GTX 770 is weaker than a R9 390
