Today I was really excited to build my first pc.I was working on it for about three hours and when the time came to test my creation... nothing!
I have the Z170 Pro Gaming board which has LEDs on it and they were turned on when I powered the system. The GPU did as well.
But no BIOS "beep" and pretty much nothing else other than pretty lights...I can't think of what else could it be, is it the CPU's fault??
I'm really sad right now...

Full specs:

i7 6700K
GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 @2400Mhz

Thermaltake Smart SE 730W

check that your ram is in correctly

you need to push it all the way in until the clips snap in place by themselves without you touching them

just push down on the ram very hard

Did you plug everything in

To be honest I'm not 100% sure. But since the board and the GPU has power, shouldn't it go into the BIOS?

I'm pretty sure it's in but I'll check again tomorrow...

does the motherboard have a series of labelled lights? If so take a look at the manual they can tell you where something is up.

(my board did and it correctly told me my RAM was installed incorrectly)

Make sure you plugged in both the 24pin Mobo power connector and the 8pin CPU connector. I made a mistake once by not plugging in the 8pin and nearly paid someone to fix it then I finally noticed it.

when you check the ram you might have to take all the channeled sticks out if one is not in correctly (this assumes you have two)

This, happened to me as well, took me nearly an hour of just staring at the motherboard before I realized. Make sure, 110% that everything is plugged in correctly.

When you are sure that it is, and it's still not working. Then come back to us again! Also if you're not sure, as someone else said, use the manual, if you're still not sure, then just ask us what you are unsure about!

I'm pretty sure it's in but I'll check again tomorrow...

It won't go straight into the bios unless you spam the delete key. It'll try to boot into an OS but if you don't have one installed it'll go to a black screen with some gray text telling you that you're missing a boot device.

I'm not sure if the lights are supposed to indicate any problems but I'll check

Make sure you plugged in both the 24pin Mobo power connector and the 8pin CPU connector. I made a mistake once by not plugging in the 8pin and nearly paid someone to fix it then I finally noticed it.

But the board does light up so I'm guessing it's connected properly

when you check the ram you might have to take all the channeled sticks out if one is not in correctly (this assumes you have two)

I'll just try 1 RAM stick to eliminate any issues and see if that helps

No signal whatsoever to the monitor...

lets see

1) Make sure the Motherboard 24 pin and CPU 8 pin is plugged in.

2) Make sure you have the monitor hooked up to the graphics card and not the motherboard.

3) Make sure your ram is seated properly

4)Most modern boards have fault LEDs read out, what does the fault say? is there any particular LEDs staying on while booting? IE CPU or boot device etc..

5)Clear CMOS and try booting
