Different PSUs are made with different components, some much worse than others. A crappy PSU CAN kill your entire system.

The Corsair one is not modular, has a poor efficiency and has a low capacitor quality.

The Cooler Master one is semi-modular and has a golde effiency with better capacitors.

VS550 is not very efficient, low quality primary capacitors, non-modular and a poor ambient temperature tolerence. Not all PSUs are created equal. The Cooler Master is more efficient, semi modular and has better quality capacitors.

 

Just because they have similar names doesn't mean they perform similarly. A bad PSU (such as the VS550) can seriously damage your system, which is a risk you shouldn't be willing to take.

The VS550 is a low end PSU, If I had to use it I'd only put it in an low power system like an APU.

And the V550 is pretty much a high end, efficiency and quality PSU, hence the higher price....
