ShadowPlay - reduce video size while retaining quality?

I wanted to know if there was any way to reduce the file size of a recorded video.

I'm recording using 60 FPS, 40 Mbps, H.264 on ShadowPlay at 3440x1440 and a 38 minute video is about 8.5 GB which will take forever to upload on youtube.

Is there any sophisticated software out there that can compress the video but retain the quality? 3440x1440 @ 60 is a must at least. I have a feeling there isn't but can't hurt to ask for tips/advice.

sony vegas or adobe premier

just render it at a lower resolution or different codec

quality will always be lost, but some codecs can loose very little quality but compress it quite a bit

That filesize is normal.. Reduce recording resolution to 720p or 1080p ...

Also , why are you recording on a ultrawide.. it'll look bad on youtube for 99% of people . I'm not even sure if youtube supports 21:9 resolutions and if it doesn't just add black bars..

For 21:9 users it's fullscreen. For 16:9 users it will have black bars but appear cinematic at least just like many movies.

For anyone not watching it fullscreen ( i think the majority ) it just makes it too small . Remember at least 75% of people only have a 1080p or less monitor

35% have 1080p and only 3-4% have higher resolution monitors . That means recording at more than 1080p is useless. And recording at 720p is fine for 60% ...

If you have access to an NLE, use that to reduce the size to 1080p/60. May be the best solution. As someone suggest above, you could use Handbrake, but I wouldn't know what settings to tinker with.

I am not trying to maximise views or cater to the largest audience. I just want to make some 21:9 gameplay videos which even for 16:9 has a greater field of view and looks pretty cool.

Like I said I don't care if I get less than 10 views.

Thanks anyway everyone for the responses. I'm trying out handbrake right now as I'm typing this.
