How good is my 4670k

Cobiee

Basically i've overclocked my 4670k to 4.4ghz @ 1.25v, i'm running a 980 ti sc+ from evga with 8gb of CL9 1600Mhz ddr3 ram, I'm just wondering how powerful my cpu is at that speed and how long I could be looking at before I should upgrade to something else if I should at all? Had my chip since release in 2013 but haven't really been in the know cpu wise since :P

You should be good for quite a while to be honest. Using the exact same CPU @ Stock due to my CPU not wanting to hold any OC what so ever.

Able to get 60 fps on FO4 @ 4k with Godrays at low and my shadow distance set to medium so you shouldn't have to worry at all really.

CPU: i7 8700k   Motherboard: Asus Maximus Hero  RAM: 16GB @ 3600Mhz  GPU: MSI 980Ti 6G  Case: Fractal Design R5 (4 Intakes/3Exhausts)  Storage: Crucial BX100 SSD, Samsung 850 & Seagate 2TB HDD  PSU: Seasonic M12II Evo '850W'  CPU Cooling: Corsair H110i GT

ahh that silicon lottery bad luck man :/ I've never pushed mine I just watched Linus's oc guide a while back and just bashed in 4.4 @1.25v and it worked so just left it at that xD I should push it really but my lack of oc knowledge keeps me from venturing much further, what's the max yours has got to?

Definitely a solid CPU, still holding on to my 3770K after about three years, definitely not feeling the urge to upgrade

Should be fine for the next two years or so

Love my 4670k. It hit 4.5 no problem at 1.28v but won't go any further no matter how much voltage I pump in.

4.5 ain't shabby though for a regular Haswell. Doesn't go over 50C with my custom loop, even after hours of Fallout 4. I don't think I'll be upgrading for a while.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

It does boot into windows at 4.4@1.25 too but its as soon as everything has loaded the bugger decides to just restart. Then I can try 4.4 @ 1.4 for the giggles and it doesn't even put into windows at all.

Would have to most likely try updating my bios and clearing the CMOS but I really don't need to OC I guess.

Man you've nearly got the exact same set-up as me as well haha! But yeah it's just of them things I think really. Will just wait for the next major CPU release and then drop a bomb on a custom look I think, my CPU should get me through till then :)

Yeah haha I noticed :P aye hopefully next release is a bit more overclock happy, Any ideas on next Intel cpu release? I heard skylake and that but a bit too soon for me to swap now

Except for Skylake-E/Broadwell-E I'm not sure of any other standard CPU's coming out but I'm wanting to wait until I can invest in a rig which will be properly future proofed CPU/MB/Ram wise.

Always been a dream to build a 4-5k PC I guess :D

True true and yeah i'm pretty much the same, Gonna ride the ass off my current rig until 4k is at least semi reasonable :D our future wallets cry haha!

I can't wait to spend the money on the rig, other people seem to think its a waste. Well its a waste that puts a massive smile on my face haha!

To be honest 4k is getting there quite well, the only game I haven't been able to max at 4k is GTA5. But most shooters/FPS games do need better hardware before 4k is a true standard, but then 8k/16k or whatever else might be out will push the current stuff harder.

Never ending circle of goodness :)
