Question regarding backlight bleed

So, the Lenovo Y50 I got has some minor backlight bleed on the lower left-hand corner - it's not really noticeably in games or movies - only in certain black backgrounds/states - when viewing directly it's hard to notice, only when I lean back. Question is, will/does it get worse over time or if it's minor I can just ignore it? I'm not really big on the idea of RMAing something for such a small thing.

I'm pretty sure it wont get worse. My ultrawide LG has a little backlight blew, but as you said, it only shows in dark blacks. I have not noticed it get worse in my case.

I see - so I guess I won't be bothering with attempts at an RMA - since that would probably mean losing my awesome cool-running chips ^_^

Backlight bleeding doesn't get worse over time.

Normally, for IPS panels, it should only be visible on dark scene or black screen. If you see it affect colors, then the panel is faulty.

Backlight bleeding is sadly considered "normal" for consumer grade monitor, and very difficult to find one without, even if you have a big budget.

The reason is that, like IPS panel glow effect, it cost a lot of money to rectify the problem, and that means that the panel will cost a lot of money for you, making the laptop/tablet or monitor cost a lot more for the same specs. It also consumes more thickness, an issue for mobile systems.

Basically, ask your self, assuming you are buying a 1080p monitor, are you willing to spend, say.. 700$ for it? Probably your answer is "no, I'll go with the ~350-300$ monitor, I'll live the issues"
