What ram?

Go to solution Solved by Patrick Bateman,

Ok thanks so I don't need 16 gb?

not for your workload.... the games you play arent as heavy on ram as newer games. and for light video editing 8gb should be ok.. but its up to you really.

Hi, I am a gamer. I was thinking about upgrading my ram and I do not know if I need 16 gb or just 8. I play games like war thunder and planetside 2. I do very light to medium video stuff using blender. Right now I have 8gb but it says it is only running at 666 mhz. What do I do?

probably because its dual channel, which means your ram is 1333mhz. 16gb can help with newer games like bo3 which have crazy ram requirements but not really for those games.

your ram is running at 1333 Mhz, Double Data Rate, so you need to double the speed it says ;)

Also what is the default speed for ram when you first install it in your computer?

what is on the box :) but with XMP ram its 1600 Mhz on DDR3 or 2133 Mhz on DDR4 :) and you can turn overclock it in your bios if the ram supports it  (XMP)

the speed has nothing to do with the capacity

if youre running out of ram and using close to 8GB then you should get 16GB
