best steelseries mouse/pad combo currently?

Hey.
Im using a Steelseries Apex m800 keyboard and im looking for new mouse
so i was thinking about buying a ss mouse/pad to make my set match and to use 1 software for both keyboard/mouse

i really like the SS Engine software

I was thinking about the Rival 300 . the shape and coating looks amazing but i have no idea about the sensor and which mouse pad works best with it?

also thinking about the sensei because its wireless . i never tried wireless for gaming and playing with mouse cable sounds cool biggrin.gif

rest of the modules im not sure how they are...

so if im looking for a new mouse/pad combo from SS which one you prefer and why ?

The RIvals a pretty good mouse. It's running the Pixart 3310 I believe which is a pretty good up to date sensor. As far as mouse pads the QCK is probably the most popular for steelseries.

SS Rival is your best bet from Steelseries like mentioned above, it's a pretty big mouse though so you may want to try it first, for reference it's a bit bigger than a Deathadder. I'd get the QcK mass personally if you want a matching mouse pad. Here's some more in depth information on the mouse though if you're interested:

Steelseries Rival

-Sensor: Avago ADNS 3310

-Weight: 129 grams (without the cord)

-Shape: Ergonomic (right-handed)

-Coating: Rubberized coating on the top, rubber grips on the sides

-Buttons: 7 -Switches used for LMB and RMB: Not entirely certain. It is rumored they are not omron switches and they feel different (TTC switches?). Actuation force remains light, but the feedback is not as crisp or clicky. Some describe them as slightly more mushy than the standard Omron D2FC-F-7N.

-Quality/ Design issues: On some of the Rivals, LMB and RMB touch when pressed at the same time. Many people report that the mouse-wheel rattles with rapid movements.

Hey thanks alot for the info

just checked the qck mass and its exactly what im looking for in terms of size and matching the rest of the set.

if the Rival is begger then the DA then it something i will have to adapt to

i used IE 3.0 as well but most of my gaming years been with the DA's . i did try many other mice but none felt good as the DA

my last mouse was the g303 which is a baby compared to the DA but i managed to adapt it and enjoyed it alot so i hope i can do the same with Rival

right now im using my old ec1 eVo just until i order the rival and the pad . i hope i wont be disappointed by the Rival .

for the switches i also heard something about it but as long as they last and not fail as other razer/logitech mice that i had , im fine with that.

for that scroll wheel issue i really hope the rival 300 dont have that . its a newer module so i guess better mouse overall :<

the Rival reminds me the zowie FK but more curvy like for right handed and less flat . sadly i cant "Try"  it b4 but i will take my chances . i like taking risks when it comes to mice :D

Logitech G502

i found a 30 minutes video on youtube that compares both rival and g502

and the g502 looks so bad . the shape and size is wierd also i dont like the extra buttons

i know that probably the g502 got the better sensor compared to the Rival but i think it more about comfort/shape +good sensor and mouse pad

and less "best sensor" not so good shape

Wouldn't touch SS mice to be honest, cheap feeling and the driver softwares about as bad as Razers. I have a friend who has the Rival and he says it's the worst mouse he has ever used. Instead buy a driverless mouse such as an FK2/FinalMouse and a cloth pad such as, well an SS one or an Artisan one.

SS got the best software .not sure why u dont like it

And maybe ur friend got the old rivals which had few issues that fixed long ago

Finalmouse getting bad reviews its a cheap mouse ...

Zowies are nice but i had few and they have been nothing more then avarage i never "really " liked them

Also the idea that u need replug the mouse and hold buttons to change ur settings is annoying

Girlfriend has a steelseries mouse and the driver sometimes throws up a javascript error and the program needs a restart. The program also shows when an update is available for download, once downloaded and restarted the PC it shows the program had an update again only to be the same version you've just installed.

As for the Zowie unplugging etc, you shouldn't really be changing DPI (well I don't) I usually adjust the ingame sensitivity and keep the DPI at 400 and leave polling rate.

Im using the apex m800 keyboard for 6months and done countless updates for both software and frimwere and i had 0 issues

Infact one of the main reasons i want a ss mouse is the amazing software

Must say that im also thinking about the mionix castor as well but leaning tpwards the rival
