Asus Turbo cooler is practically the WORST 970 cooler available. It doesn't cool the VRMs properly resulting in them reaching over 100*C. Avoid it - it will NOT OC properly, nor will it be quiet.

I am planning to get a GTX 970 and the turbo is the cheapest on the website i am looking at. Is it any good? I could not find any benchmarks graph online.

Let me guess... You're from Singapore? Are you planing to buy from lazada?

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

How's the price of this one (the MSI 970 4GD5T OC) in Singapore? Here in the Netherlands it's the second-cheapest full-size 970 after the ASUS Turbo at only €4.- more, but it's got a much more capable cooler than the ASUS.

its a pre built computer, but it has a 80 plus bronze

If it's a pre-built even a 960 is not a good idea - get a decent PSU so as to not kill your system.

www.lazada.sg/shop-graphic-cards/

I think I'd rather have the Palit or the Zotac cards, and they're cheaper than the Asus Turbo anyways on that site. Then again if you're on a prebuilt with shitty airflow a blower style card like the Turbo would probably be best.

Turbo and best do not go in the same sentence together unless it is "Turbo is not the best".

Even the small Zotac 970 cooler is 10*C cooler than the Turbo and doesn't let the VRMs reach 100*C

It won't be if there isn't any airflow in the case though, which is common with prebuilts with their solid fronts and lack of top exhausts.

Nah - a 970 will be fine - a 390 is a different story.

I disagree, most prebuilts are designed to be able to handle cooling an 80W cpu and that's it. An open air 970 is going to exhaust twice that in heat into the case. If he has a case with a front intake and fan then that's different, the open air cooler like on the Zotac or the Palit would then be way better.

Most cases have enough ventilation :)

I just always picture those shit HP cases with the glossy solid plastic front when I think prebuilt.

I've used pre-builts - some are actually good (I know, heresy - one even had an intake fan!)
