Well it could be the audio emulation type you are using, check if it has other options

umm it says on the dropdown on the config it says SPU2-X r5830 2.0.0

I was trying to see if your nvidia graphics card driver or audio driver if you use those had changed to assess whether that change was the problem, not the pcsx2 drivers as those should still be the same.

ok so I just updated my graphics drivers and the sound drivers haven't changed, but it still doesn't work. so should I try un and then re installing the emulator?

Can't hurt, PCSX2 is not the most stable emulator, but it's the best for ps2 we got, if that doesn't work try checking their site to see if this is a common issue with a fix, otherwise I don't know how to help you as I haven't used PCSX2 that much.
