Just use spacers between the wood and your standoffs, or simply get larger standoffs (which is what I would do), this way the motherboard isn't that close to the wood. You won't have to worry about any conductivity or static.
As you can see, they come on different sizes (bronze standoff) Try getting some that are a bit longer than the ones you can found on cases.
To secure them to the wood, you could use 'wood nut inserts', they come in different sizes as well, pick one that has the correct threading.
Linus used these on his under-desk PC build a couple weeks ago. They worked just fine.
