Are those pins?

It looks like a primitive HDMI... but judging by the size, it's not...

might be a proprietary plug since it's also not serial...

Edit:

You might have a better chance of identifying it by searching using the microscope model as the search term...

Yeah, i am working with what i got. i do know that the other end goes into vga.

Does not help that the user has no clue what focus means while taking pictures. I am trying to get him to send me the model or something for it to no avail.

just a pebkac error.

I need help identifying this cable i have very little information.

- i know it is used for a microscope camera.

Depending on the number of pins it's a variation on  a version of the parallel connector, looks to be the IEEE-488:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE-488

It's very common in industrial applications or industry type equipment.

Long story short.

Assisting a user with upgrading his monitor. These pictures are all i was able to get out of him.  One end goes to vga and the other end would be this mysterious connector,

i appreciate the prompt response.  i would like to upgrade him to a dvi, hdmi or something.

-damn upper managment.

you'll want to upgrade whatever graphics adapter that dude has... that thing is ancient. and doesn't support anything higher than SXGA.
