So when I use Magic Jellybean Keyfinder or Belarc Advisory I get XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX as my product key. Why is this? How can I reinstall windows if I cant get my product key. I have a Dell Optiplex 740 running Windows 7 Professional.

The product key should be on a product key sticker on the machine.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

No this was upgraded when I got it. It came with Windows Vista which I really don't want to install. Even if it did come to that point a clean iso for it would be impossible to find.

I believe there is a method of checking through your registry for the product key as well. Other than that, very odd. I use the very same software to recover my Win7 Pro key all the time. Are you using the free version of Magical Jelly Bean and do you have anti-virus software installed and running?

The the upgrade wasn't done with a product key.  I'll even suggest that it was VL copy or illegal.

What is a VL copy?

A volume license copy is a copy of Windows designed for business.  They get activations, not product keys.  They use a single product key (it is just generic) and it will activate not based on a product key.
