What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

Currently, I play WoW and League only (I know they are very low spec games). The reason for this is because I feel like my 650Ti just cannot run AAA titles at a reasonable level and framerate so I shy away from playing other games.

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

I was looking into getting a 1440p monitor of maybe a 1080p 144Hz monitor, but I'm not sure where to even start with that. (I'd be buying this after Christmas)

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I'd like the budget to be around £300 (I'm a student, so this is kinda important)

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

United Kingdom

Provide any additional details you wish below.

I've been researching all morning about the 390x however I've seen nothing but bad on this card all morning, why is this?

390X is not worth it, get a 390.

I'm assuming you have a decent power supply to power high-end graphic cards?

If the difference was 15%+ I'd get a 390X.

Are there any nVidia cards at a £300 price point I should look into?

For 300 pounds there isn't any GPU that can run at 1080p 144Hz at max settings.

So what am I going to be looking at to run that kind of monitor?

There's the 970 which is slightly lower in performance against the 390, but has a lower power consumption. So if you have 400-500w PSU that could be your choice.

I have a 650W PSU, I think I'm decided on the 390 now though. I'm just thinking of which vendor to go to, with my Sapphire 6850 I had nothing but problems, so I'm kinda shaky with them.

A 390 would run fine on 500-550W

I would get a Sapphire/MSI AMD Radeon R9 390 because of the cooling of those GPU's

Sounds dumb but it says 1 x 8 pin and 1 x 6 pin. The 650Ti I'm running now uses a 6 pin, where can I get an 8 pin from?

What kind of brand and type of psu do you have?

Depending on your PSU, it should have a 6 pin with a little 2 pin hanging off it. Also, the 8 pin connector would be on the graphics card itself.
