Which of these two ultrawide monitors should I get? 3440x1440 vs 2560x1080

basketball762

Hi All! So I am pretty lost on which of these two monitor options I should go with. I am looking at the following two monitors:

LG 34UM57 - 34" UltraWide (2560x1080): $367.00

LG 34UM95C-P (3400x1440): $569.00

Obviously, the 3440x1440 seems tempting but it is obviously ~$200 more and in my current system I only have one MSI R9 280X graphics card. If I bought the 1440 monitor it would probably be a few months before I could upgrade the graphics card to say a GTX 980. The main usage for this monitor will be for productivity and gaming (games such as GTA V, Fallout 4, and some indie games).

Any help is much appreciated!

Can you send links to these?

Yeah sorry, I should have included the links on my original post. Here is the 2560x1080 one: http://www.buydig.com/shop/product/LG34UM57/34UM57-34-UltraWide-219-IPS-WFHD-LED-Cinema-Screen-Computer-Gaming-Monitor (there is a coupon that brings the price down $100)

3440x1440 one: http://www.adorama.com/LOT34UM95C.html?emailprice=t&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_source=rflaid62905&cvosrc=affiliate.62905

And sorry for the spam of posts on other forums ha. I wasn't getting many answers at the time, and I am looking to make the purchase today since I don't know how long these sales will go on for. Thanks again for the help

LG 34UM95C-P (3400x1440): $569.00

Between those two, the 1440 requires a card that can push pixels 79% harder than the 1080 at the same settings.

the higher resolution one is a lot better at that screen size, butt you need to have enough GPU power to game on it

Couldn't I just bring the resolution down to 2560x1080 in games with the 1440 monitor? Or does it not do a good job at scaling down to that?

if the game supports that then yes, but it would look worse than just the smaller res monitor
